Neutral with a twist

Wearing black will never go out of style – this goes for the holiday season as well. Black is a classic color and it allows you to be adventurous with cuts, materials and accessories. 

Make it pointy

Bold or accentuated shoulders are a big trend this winter as seen on the runway at Dolce & Gabbana and Louis Vuitton. This can easily be transferred to a black dress for a bit of drama or a blazer to make your look more adaptable. 

To the max

The 90s trend is here to stay and up until now that’s meant mini skirts – with emphasis on mini. Now, the maxi has made its way in as well, and talk about timing! It’s cold and windy outside, so we’re more than happy that this warmer style is back. The perfect fit this winter is straight or tight and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Go for a sweater and sneakers for Christmas lunch with the family or add a blouse and a heeled boot for drinks with friends. 

Cut it out

Normally you don’t want to expose too much skin during the winter but this year, it’s all the talk. Cut-outs (a la Kendall Jenner in Mônot) leaves little to the imagination but is a great way to add a little something to an otherwise neutral outfit. Cut-outs can be done in both mini and maxi dresses as well as tops. The limit does not exist.

Colorful 

You might have an idea of what colors are appropriate for Christmas, but let’s try and spice it up a bit this year!

Luscious greens

Green is the color of the season and there’s no more appropriate time to wear green than Christmas. Even though it’s winter, you don’t have to go for the dark green hues. Everything from emerald to lime have hit the runways at Ganni and Bottega Veneta, so do Christmas with a twist and light up the room with a lime green vest or do a full look in different shades of green.

Purple paradise 

Red and green aren’t the only colors associated with Christmas, purple is actually also a traditional Christmas color. It’s the color of Advent, which is the period before Christmas, and the color represents royalty, luxury and a sense of magic. Good thing is, purple looks great with green! If you’re a fan of complementary colors, a mix of green and purple would be the perfect Christmas combination without being boring! 

Sparkles and sequins

A great way to add a bit of sparkle and pizazz to an outfit without completely committing to the bit – accessories! 

Balenciaga has sparked waves with their Hourglass bag and have taken it a step further with metallized leather and rhinestones, making this rendition of the bag the perfect bag for the holidays. Bottega Veneta – and many more – has also made a nice shiny silver bag, so you’re spoilt for choice! 

As you perhaps already know, the Y2K trend is still here and still going strong and a big part of this trend is sparkle and glitter. Earrings from Dior, necklaces from Louis Vuitton and brooches from Chanel are still super trendy and would work really well to spark up a Christmas look. 

You might think these shiny accessories are only appropriate for November and December – because of the holidays – but rest assured, the rest of the winter, as well as the early spring months, need a bit of sparkle as well and a shiny bag or sparkly earrings are perfect for brightening the dark and long nights. 

Suit up

A big trend for winter 2022/23 is suits and this is a great way to switch up your regular holiday apparel and stand out! 

You can go all out and opt for a three-piece, matching (or not) blazer and trousers or go for a blazer, vest and jeans – the opportunities are endless when it comes to mixing and matching these pieces!

The vest has been a staple all summer as well, with people wearing them on their own or overtop t-shirts. Bring the trend into winter with a blazer, long sleeve or keep being sexy and wear them on their own.
