WHAT'S HOT

Weekend escapes: Big city edition

Spring is the perfect occasion to take a quick trip away from home and what’s better than a city break! Pack your overnight bag with comfortable shoes, a warm scarf and a pair of your favorite sunglasses, and you’ll be ready for browsing museums and delicious restaurants all weekend.

Paris

No one is well-dressed but never over-dressed quite like Parisians. The style in Paris is casual and relaxed yet always chic. When packing for a trip to the capital, you should pick out all the classic silhouettes in your wardrobe. A pair of well-fitting jeans, a pair of great boots – perhaps with a low heel – a nice coat and a classic bag and you’ll be good to go. Add a skirt and a dress for the evenings but remember not to over do it.

Jewelry is normally kept dainty and understated in Paris, but you can add a brooch or a nice hat to elevate your outfit.

You’ll need a travel bag for your trip and may we suggest the Louis Vuitton Keepall. It’s French design, it’s durable and most importantly it’s a classic. It’ll transport all your belongings safely to your destination no matter if you’re traveling by car, train or plane.

New York

Let’s start with footwear. You’ll probably be walking a lot so you need to bring a good pair of flat shoes – sneakers, boots, you name it. It might however still be a good idea to bring a pair of heels for dinner if you’re planning to go out – which we assume you are. Heels are a great way to dress up a simple outfit or you can choose to go all out and wear a skirt or dress as well. You can go for a classic heel or you can opt for a knee-high boot a la the 90s.

As a tourist it might be practical to have a larger bag with you to carry everything you need during the day. A Canapa tote from Prada is one option – they’re durable, have a great size and come in a great variety of colors. You can choose your perfect match.

Another great way to dress up any outfit and make it stand out is by using accessories. Jewelry – large necklaces, droopy earrings, brooches – scarves and hair accessories will make a look seem put together and well thought out without looking like you’re trying too hard (in true New Yorker style).

Don’t be afraid to stand out when in New York! If you’ve been dreaming about trying something new or out of your comfort zone, a weekend in New York is the perfect place to try it out.

London

London, London, London… Just like New York, we assume you’ll be walking a fair bit while exploring the city. A good pair of flat boots are therefore a must. If you really want to fit in, you’ll also bring your best trench coat. Beige or black are the go-to colors normally, but you can also opt for camel or khaki. If you have a tartan scarf in the back of your wardrobe, London is a great time to whip it out.

Remember to bring layers. London weather can be confusing any time of the year, so it’s good to be prepared. Basic t-shirts and jeans with a nice knit that’ll fit under your coat and you’re off to a great start. A pleated skirt is also highly recommendable if you’re going for the very classic British look.

Because the weather is so hard to predict, it’s also a good idea to bring a nice pair of sunglasses. We always think this is a great idea as sunglasses are the ultimate accessory, but they’re especially hard to live without during spring.
